Q + A with the newest member of our Melbourne team – Nicola Lee!
She’s super warm, open and friendly, but she calls a spade a spade. So no, she won’t beat around the bush with you, but she will very kindly tell it like it is (and we think you’ll love her all the more for it).
Yep, that’s our newest teamie, Nicola Lee!
Nicola genuinely cares about getting to know others (she probably already has an ongoing list of fun facts about all of us) and is a total people person. Probably a good thing she’s in recruitment, hey!
We’re stoked for you to meet her, so without further adieu… meet Nicola!
Q + A with Nicola Lee, our new Digital Talent Advocate!
Hiya Nicola! First tell us, what do you do at affix?
Hi, I’m Nicola! I am one of the Talent Advocates here at affix – working in the digital team.
What attracted you to working at affix?
When I first met the team, I could truly see that the team really loves what they do! The company’s ethics and values, the exciting space we recruit in and the growth aspects personally and professionally ????
Tell us three words that others have used to describe your vibe/personality?
I have been told that I am a mix of chatty, creative and loud at times!
What tech or trend are you loving right now?
Hmm not really a trend, or maybe it is – but I am loving watching instagram reels on cooking videos. I am waiting on a new cookbook that includes QR codes that links to new cooking methods and recipe videos – BiGGG fan of Bon Appetit’s recipes.
If you had to deliver a TED talk tomorrow, what would it be about?
It would be about taking a moment to reflect on what you have achieved and to take a step back when you can. I did it a couple of times last year and it was well needed – it allowed me to be able to look at things in a more holistic view.
What’s your superpower?
I have been told that I am a great social organiser – not sure if it is a superpower but I love planning a schedule or an activity!
What’s something many people don’t know about you?
I’m an open book, but people are usually interested when I say that I have lived in 5 countries. Born in Singapore, raised in Auckland, NZ, hopped around a bit in Switzerland and London and now Melbourne – where I now call home!
What are you listening to, reading and/or watching right now?
Currently, I am well deep in watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians – final season! Looking through my recent Spotify plays, it ranges from 90’s, electronic music and Taylor Swift. As for books, I am looking for a new mystery thriller novel to dive into.
What’s your favourite mental health/productivity hack?
I love being active, whether it be a HIIT workout at Bodyfit or a walk in the park – music blasting on loud with a dance helps too.
Ok last one… time for ‘would you rather’!
- Would you rather have seven fingers on each hand or seven toes on each foot? Seven Toes on each foot.
- Would you rather give up air conditioning and heating for the rest of your life or give up the Internet for the rest of your life? I would rather give up air conditioning and heating for the rest of my life.
- Would you rather walk to work everyday in heels or drive to work everyday in reverse? Walk to work everyday in heels.
