Social Media & Corporate Comms Officer

We’ve buddied up with a fabulous organisation here in Brisbane that is the peak body for the local government in sunny Queensland, and we’re thrilled to help them find a brand spanking NEW Social Media & Communications Officer!

These guys are solving some cool problems for local councils across Queensland. They have a great little Marketing and Comms team and they need a new crew member that’s going to assist in executing some pretty cool stuff across ALL THE social platforms, and to continue to help them produce some engaging, gorgeous content for local councils and their communities.

Because this role would see you be the first contact or engagement that members essentially have with this organisation, it’s super important that you’re someone who loves WOW-ing and delighting people through the way you communicate. Not just through the written word or in person, but also how you use your own special tone across social platforms too.

It goes without saying, you’re going to be someone who is uber organised, proactive, and creative. No doubt, you’ve got some pretty special skills in being able to connect and grow a network, and you’ll be all over ‘the socials’ and can use the latest and greatest tools and platforms to communicate with a wide audience #likeaboss.

We’re visualizing our perfect person to have anywhere around two to three years’ experience working in the communications, marketing, PR, digital or creative industries, in local government or perhaps even a not-for-profit. We are looking for someone who can produce beautiful copy, can pay close attention to the finer details, and has a bit of experience in reporting on web analytics and metrics. You’ll have polished skills across all online and digital communication, with a particular focus on social media channels and we see you being the kind of person who not only communicates with gorgeous copy, but the way you go about communicating to the team and the greater organisation is done with confidence and finesse, because that’s just the kind of person you are.

For all of the dot-point lovers out there – here’s what you’ll be getting up to:

  • You’ll be creating some deliciously engaging social media content and you’ll be posting an array of different content for the Association, its subsidiaries, and their projects;
  • Your efforts, contribution, and ideas will be instrumental here, and you’ll be encouraging and supporting the social media activities of the organisations members and customers;
  • You’ll be monitoring social media through the use of a social media management platform, plus using listening and analytical tools, as well as producing insightful & detailed reporting for internal stakeholders;
  • Developing, scheduling, creating and participating in organic and paid social media campaigns across ALL THE social platforms, and you’ll be able to get pretty darn crafty too;
  • You’ll be supporting the creation of digital media collateral, and this includes audio, video and image-based content for dissemination across social networks;
  • The Communications Manager will no doubt have a bunch other cool things they’ll need your help with, and sometimes it might mean doing stuff you’ve not done before, but you’ll have the support of some great leaders who’ve been around the traps for a while and can show you the way!

They’ll be thrilled if you have:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in the communications, marketing, PR, digital or creative industries;
  • You’ll have demonstrated proficiency across digital and online communications that include “ALL THE” social media channels and the analytics/reporting functions that underpin them;
  • You write beautiful words, and you’ve worked in organisations that have enabled you to refine some pretty tasty copywriting and editing skills;
  • Previously, you might have worked in a fast-moving creative environment or perhaps even a not-for-profit in a similar role. That’d be nice!
  • A cherry on top for this role would be some working knowledge around the Queensland political environment; And
  • Speaking of cherries, you’ll kick some big goals if you’ve got some graphic design and video editing skills too, but don’t stress if you don’t.

A huge part of hiring for this role is culture and attitude first. So, if you’re the kind of person who likes to take the lead, loves socials and is a master of communicating beautifully, then chances are you’ve found your new role!
