Senior Strategist | Leading Digital Agency!

You’ve worked hard to get to where you are and yet sometimes you wonder, ‘what’s next?’

Well, I’m not telling you I have the answer, but I DO have a sneaking suspicion this opportunity might just be the thing you’re looking for. Have I piqued your interest? Then please, read on.

affix is teaming up (once again) with one of the highest regarded, awarded, and (dare I say it), MOST successful Digital agencies in Queensland. And this time around? We’re helping them find a Senior Strategist to lead the way strategically for the biz and for their large-scale client base.

About the biz:

Mission-driven. Values-aligned. Really-damn-great-at-what-they-do. Just a few ways to describe the phenomenal team and business you could be joining. They’re on a mission to help their clients move digital forward and they’ve reaped many rewards along the way. With a strong presence in Brisbane and Sydney (and a client base across Australia and overseas), this team has been incredibly successful, recognised, and awarded for being a leading digital agency.

Speaking of their clients, they’ve got some of the biggest and most beautiful national retailers and eComm brands under their management. They’ve been incredibly discerning in how they’ve grown, which clients they bring on board, who they hire, how they measure their results and how they care for their clients.
Yep, they’re a special bunch of clever humans full of heart and integrity, and they wear these qualities like a badge of honour.

To top it all off? They don’t offer cookie-cutter packages to their clients. They mean what they say and say what they mean. They also don’t do the silly stuff that can happen a lot in agency-land. Like make ludicrous claims and over-promise their clients the world. Instead? They keep it real. All. The. Time.

About the gig:
We’re after a Senior Digital Strategist to play an instrumental role in driving digital strategy, challenging the status quo, and moving the dial for some exciting brands. You’ll play a pivotal role in educating the wider team on what ‘strategy’ actually means and how it can help inform and improve the results of the agency’s client portfolio at the same time.

The aim of your game? To deliver high-quality, digitally-led marketing strategy to some BIG and beautiful clients as well as form up compelling, insightful and innovative digital strategy for prospective clients that are coming on board. Through your extensive knowledge of marketing, communications, and digital, you will think holistically and channel-agnostically about this agency’s clients’ business challenges, providing digitally-led marketing insights and advice to help them better connect with their customers. And what’s more exciting is, you’ll be responsible for helping set their strategic digital roadmap as well as elevating engagement out of day-to-day tactics.

And you? Well, you’re likely in an agency of a decent size right now, you’re comfortable working with BIG brands and you naturally associate yourself with being a genuine strategy extraordinaire. You’re curious to your core, proactive about bringing new ideas to life through strategy, and love to deep dive into a brand whilst always looking at ways to do things better.

It goes without saying, you will need to possess the ability to distill research and data sets (both first party and third party) into actionable, genuine insights and translate these into digital communications strategies. You have a knack for understanding what makes people tick, what drives their decision making, and how to use the tools available to you to positively influence customer behaviour for the brands you’re working with. You will proactively consume industry research, publisher insights, economic trends, consumer trends, evolving digital best practices, and more. You will also be someone that naturally takes pride in being the most well-read person in the agency on what is happening in the world of marketing, communications, digital media, and the local economy.

Phew! Are you still with me? We’re almost there…

Here’s a look at some of the things you’ll be owning and evolving in the role:

  • Deliver a range of strategic outputs for agency clients including: Digital Strategy Playbook (consumer, category, and competitive insights), discovery workshops, planning sessions; Audience research and insights, customer journey mapping, and industry trends presentations;
  • Add strategic depth to our new business proposals, unpacking and challenging the client’s brief, ideating new ways to use digital communications to achieve the briefed objectives;
  • Proactively consume industry research, publisher insights, economic trends, consumer trends, and evolving digital best practices;
  • Drive understanding and upskilling of strategy as a discipline within the agency, running training workshops for the team which contribute to improvements in the agency’s strategic acumen as a collective team; And
  • Develop the agency’s Digital Strategy product proposition and grow the service.

And here’s what you’ll need to bring to make this role a shining success:

  • You have around  5+ years of experience in digital or data-driven marketing, with 2+ years in a strategy role, preferably in an agency environment.
  • You’re experienced with both third-party audience and competitor research tools e.g. GlobalWebIndex, SimilarWeb (or similar), and first-party analytics tools e.g. Google Analytics;
  • You have sound knowledge of marketing theory and behavioural economics;
  • You understand customer journeys and how to influence them, and can speak confidently to a variety of marketing concepts like brand vs performance, ESOV, mental availability, customer experience, and expectation transfer;
  • Your passion for tech, brands, and business is baked in. You gravitate towards content and conversations on topics like digital adoption, social commerce, building resilient brands, ambient and affective computing, the cookieless future, the experience economy (and everything in between);
  • You’re a strong visual communicator, with the ability to craft a persuasive and compelling presentation narrative. You’re confident presenting to a variety of different audiences, including the C-Suite;
  • You have had exposure to a range of platforms across the marketing technology stack and are always keen to learn a new piece of tech. While you won’t be ‘on the tools’, knowledge of eComm platforms and ad management/measurement tools will be valuable;
  • You have the ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team; And
  • You manage your time effectively. You will execute on agreed scopes of work end-to-end, ensuring that the deliverables are to client expectations and that you adhere to agreed scope and hours.

If you read this far, then you deserve a drink as big and juicy as this job ad.

But I also want to know… does this sound interesting? Are you intrigued?
I hope so, and I hope you feel compelled to personally hunt me down to chat about it.
