About the business
This well-kept Brisbane secret NFP software house is looking for 2 x Senior Ruby Developers, and the work they do is, well, nothing short of incredible! If you come on board, not only will you be just rubbing shoulders with some of the best engineers in Brisbane, but you’ll also be plugged into an international community of scientists and researchers building applications and solutions that make up part of the Australian Federal Government’s eResearch infrastructure roadmap. All this in conjunction with the Australian Universities and CSIRO for innovation across science, health and technology! They actively work with Universities and research centers across the globe that are focused on tackling issues from COVID, human genome mapping, children’s cancer research to enabling astrophysicists to identify low wave frequencies in space and capturing gravitational waves.

The Role

The Senior Developer works closely within the technical team to assist in delivery phase of the development, security and operations (DevSecOps) practice. The position requires a combination of security, engineering and soft skills, including communication, relationship building, an ability to mentor others on cyber security best practices and a desire to uplift cyber security preparedness across the company.

The technical requirements

We are looking for someone with the following experience:

  1. Ideally experience with development of web applications in Ruby on Rails (otherwise Java, Python or JavaScript would suffice. Still need to have a willingness to learn Ruby).
  2. Experience with E2E deployment of applications. 
  3. Experience with Kubernetes and related technologies (e.g. Helm, KNative, EKS).

Security engineering experience with:

  • Deploying scalable Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies via CloudFormation OR similar;
  • Implementing and operating cloud security infrastructure including: WAF, GuardDuty, IAM and other AWS security infrastructure to protect the company from cyber threats
