Sales Manager


Sell me this pen. Honestly, what a dated and horrid request or line of questioning? Who works like that anymore? Well, plenty still do and Sales is often seen as that – do the heavy lifting, pull out your “bag of tricks” to drive new business development.
Count me out, friends. Luckily for all of us, though, this role is not that.
Often times, the gigs that we work on and the clients we have talk about growth in pre-revenue environments with a particular runway. And that’s cool, it’s fun and has a lot of upside. With that, though, comes risk.
However, vivi have established product-market fit, they have momentum and an already impressive client base here and the US. That grunt work has been done – it’s all about investing in the right areas and putting some thought, strategy and leadership in how we scale. There’s a lot to go at. That’s essentially the gig in what I consider a start-up environment and one where they’re really making a difference in Education.
So, what does all this mean?
This is a leadership and hands-on role. You have a small team of direct reports across the East Coast. For the short to medium term, you’ll have accountability for new business in Victoria. You’ll have oversight, at a national level, with partners/resellers as well as develop strategy and drive execution into government.
You will be heavily influential on decisions around the product roadmap, onboarding and work very closely with marketing on top of funnel plans and activity to help drive leads and customer acquisition.
So, who do you need to be?
Collaborative, strategic, energetic and able to lead from the front. Be able to assess performance, design metrics and able to build a team as the business grows. You’ll have Customer Success reporting to you, but ultimately, we want someone that can develop new business and bring real rigour to the sales process.  
If you’ve been in a start-up or scale-up SaaS-based environments, great. Or a real desire to go somewhere that is flat where you can really influence and drive results. You may have just entered into leadership or on the cusp of doing so.
