I’m lucky enough to be working with one of my favourite clients, IG, to find not one but two people to join their Marketing team in Melbourne. For this role, I’m looking for a Marketing Specialist who can take end-to-end responsibility for the execution, tracking and reporting of campaigns. Someone who has managed marketing projects independently and can confidently report to senior leaders on campaign performance.
So, who are they and what do they do exactly?
IG is a global company and Melbourne’s their second largest office – with around 90 people working in the CBD. They’re a leader in online trading, so expect to get to grips with terminology around financial markets, stocks, derivatives, commodities and compliance. Don’t worry if these words sound out of your current comfort zone, we’re not expecting you to be a financial guru or mathematical genius – though I’m told there are a fair few of those on their trading floor… Rather, you’re a quick-learner and someone who can pick up new content quickly – let’s just say you’ll see this as a challenge to embrace rather than something to shy away from. This team sticks to their mission – getting a kick from the work they’re doing, doing right by their clients and constantly learning and improving the way they operate. Although part of and supported by a global team, this role will have a focus on AU/NZ, reporting to the Head of Marketing (APAC), based in Melbourne.
What’s this role all about then?
In a word, campaigns.
In more words, driving and tracking campaigns across outdoor, print, online and email. You’ll be the person executing content and monitoring performance across all go to market campaigns and sponsorship activities. You’ll be responsible for drawing insights and reporting these to the Head of Marketing to help define future strategies.
In terms of sponsors and partners – you’ll be responsible for identifying new opportunities and expanding on existing strategic partnerships. You’ll also take the lead on all events – managing branding, marketing materials and tracking the success of these activities. You’ll also keep a close eye on competitor activities – completing competitor analysis and market research to help shape future planning.
The ability to build relationships is key in this role. You’ll work closely with the broader marketing team to ensure campaigns are on brand – this includes working closely with the social marketing team to make sure that social strategy is aligned with ongoing campaigns, events and partnerships.
Another key attribute I’m looking for on this one is the ability to adapt and work at pace. Okay, you got me, that’s two things… but here’s why – priorities will change, and new deadlines will present themselves, you’ll be able to take all of this in your stride and concentrate on working towards the long-term strategy.
