affix are teaming up with their good pals at this leading retail business to hire a very special and exciting role.
  
We are looking for a frontend developer who will be their first in house dev! They are currently working with an outsource provider and want to build up an internal function, which is where you come in.
  
They have multiple brands under their group, so its a pretty awesome gig to help shape and build the team and direction of their tech stack over time. I know this gets says a lot on job ads, but it is an exciting time to join as you will be the founding member of this team.
  
The challenge on offer here is to look at how we build this team in house, integrate the code base, tools etc – its a big job! For the right person though it’s (wait for it) an exciting opportunity to flex your skills outside of just working project to project.
  
The gig
  
As the frontend developer, you will be creating user facing features and will work closely with the design team bridging the gap between design and development. You will be working cross functionally to produce a strong user experience while delivering high quality front end experiences.
  
It’s all about the user experience!!!
  
We would love for you to have the ability to set up and configure Magento2 sites, develop Magento modules and customization and extension development.
  
What skills and experience do you need for success in this gig?

  • A few years of development experience using HTML5, CSS3, Object Oriented JavaScript would be ace
  • Strong UX/UI principles including responsive web design
  • Experience with the front-end technology toolset including: Dependency managers such as NPM or bower, Build tools such as grunt, gulp or webpack, Development frameworks such as React, Transpilers such as TypeScript or ES6/Babel, CSS pre-processors such as LESS, SASS or stylus, HTML5 frameworks such as bootstrap or foundation 
  • Magento 2.x experience would send us over the moon! But its not mandatory.
  • Ability to produce well-structured HTML utilising efficient CSS.
  • Experience with version control, preferably Git.
  • Experience of JIRA/ Confluence
  • Demonstrable knowledge of API integration, Payment Gateways, Shipping etc
  • Full understanding of the Magento themes and templating systems.
  • Strong PHP, SASS, OOPS and RDBMS concept.
  • Strong understanding of Performance Tuning, Browser Compatibility and SEO best practices.
  • Proficient with cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them 
  • Experience working with APIs and databases
