We are thrilled to be helping a wonderful client of ours who we’ve been working strategically with the past 12 months, across their technology teams with a brand spanking, newly created opportunity that has come about due to the company’s expansion and future growth trajectory!
Due to the growth they’ve been experiencing, they’ve reached a point where they need someone special who can essentially do A LOT of things and plug into some of the gaps and add some real value.
After unpacking our client’s vision for this role and what’ll ultimately be in this remit, we envision this person getting excited about really owning this role. You’ll be looking after their accounts function[AR & AP], managing their books, conducting lots of reporting, streamlining processes, running office operations, helping manage the workflow management system, and working closely with key stakeholders to take off some of their administrative burdens away so they can focus on the things that frankly, they’re better at doing.
Ideally, we’d love this person to have come from a Technology-centric organisation who is commercially mature, right across technology/software programs, is comfortable with ambiguity, and has tonnes of initiative. Our clients won’t be holding your hand or telling you how to do your job. They’ll be hoping that you might be able to tell them what needs to be done outside of what they hope you can achieve in this role.
Now, this client is pretty open to the idea of someone completing this role within school hours. If you’re a parent that does pick-up and drop-off, don’t feel like you can’t throw your hat in the ring for this opportunity. Yes, it is a full-time role, but it doesn’t have to start off that way. The wonderful thing is that there is flexibility, and if successful, you can discuss what kind of hours suit you best. Also, the office is currently located in Eight Mile Plains, but is set to relocate early next year to either a CBD or city fringe location. So, if you live on the South-East side of Brisbane, then this could suit you down to the ground.

Here’s what you’ll be responsible for in this newly created role:

  • Full function Accounts payable and Accounts receivable;
  • Reconciling payments to ensure the accounting system reflects the correct transactions;
  • Bank Reconciliation and other General ledger reconciliations;
  • Month-end and year-end process;
  • Compiling, analysing, and reporting on financial data;
  • Creating periodic reports, such as balance sheets, profit & loss statements, etc.
  • Presenting data to managers, key stakeholders and other entities;
  • Maintaining accurate financial records;
  • Being a general wizard in XERO;
  • Performing audits and resolving discrepancies;
  • Computing taxes (BAS, Payroll Tax);
  • Assisting management with new staff [on-boarding and inductions];
  • Payroll administration;
  • Helping staff and key stakeholders within the business to keep the office “humming”; And
  • Other ad-hoc office administration duties as prescribed.

What we’re looking for in you:  

  • 5+ Years in finance/advance bookkeeping;
  • Experience in reconciling accounting figures and financial records;
  • Ability to identify errors, streamline processes and create efficiencies;
  • Comfortable in handling sensitive information;
  • A high level of attention to detail with an ability to see gaps, and use your initiative to solve business problems;
  • You’re articulate, and you can express yourself beautifully, both written and verbally;
  • You’re good at building relationships and garnering trust with people quickly;
  • You are a team and you typically work well with everyone;
  • You’ve got some pretty tidy skills across an array of software programs, including Excel and various Accounting packages [XERO, ideally!]
