Who are Panviva?

Panviva are solving the problem of knowledge within organisations.

They have built a leading cloud knowledge management solution to guide users step by step through processes, policies and procedures in real–time providing role-specific, contextually relevant information to the end user enabling them to perform their job more effectively and efficiently. More recently, Panviva have introduced the Digital Orchestrator to enable businesses in their digital transformations by allowing them to take an omni-channel approach in integrating with IVR, chat bots, self-service portals, and any other channels.

Panviva is run out of Camberwell and has offices globally in the USA and UK. They are an agile company, small enough for each employee to play a pivotal and valued role in the development of their flagship product.

The techy bits

Panviva has an interesting mix of technologies in their stack. They use ASP.NET Core MVC (C#), Web API, HTML5, CSS3, AngularJS, React/Redux, and other interesting UI frameworks. Within a microservices architecture they leverage the use of technologies like ActiveMQ, Azure Service Bus, .NET Core, Micro-services, Entity Framework Core & SQL Server, CosmosDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Azure Search, and MuleESB. Additionally, they focus on automation in our ALM strategy using methodologies, tools & technologies like TDD, BDD, SpecFlow, Azure DevOps, Bamboo, Puppet, Docker and Kubernetes.

Let’s jump into the specifics of the gig

Panviva have embarked on an exciting SaaS transformation journey, involving the rapid modernisation of their product and a shift towards a microservice architecture running on PaaS infrastructure on Azure.

This role is for someone ambitious who has all the right attributes and desire to become a technical leader, and is looking to step up over the next 6-12months. But don’t worry, you’re not expected to come in and lead a team day one, this is going to be a journey. You will work closely with the Engineering Manager and Solutions Architect and be closely mentored over a 6-12month period. 

The current gap in the team is having someone who can help plan and coordinate the project work. This is where you come in. Working with the current team of 4 DevOps Engineering, we want you to help lead and guide them through best practice.  

What does this all mean? Perhaps it’s best that we explain the areas of the role so you can understand where you can have impact now, and where you can continue to grow into the future: 


  • A big part of your day to day will involve coordinating project work within the DevOps team
  • Planning, scheduling and the development of CI and CD solutions for production applications across various sites/software
  • Helping to train the junior DevOps engineers and other dev teams on on how to build processes where dependencies are represented clearly in code
  • Troubleshooting issues in development systems
  • Spearhead the creation of new technology infrastructures and maintain configuration management and automation tools
  • Enable the automation of configuration management of all development, quality assurance, and production servers as well as the automation of CI and CD
  • With the support of the Development Manager, grow into owning and being responsible for the architecture and technical leadership of their full DevOps infrastructure

Design and Development: 

  • The DevOps Engineer will be designing, building, and optimizing comprehensive automation systems that operate the business’s web and data infrastructure platforms.
  • You will create software development strategies that allow DevOps engineers to successfully deploy sites/software in any environment
  • You will also design scaling strategies and develop automation scripts and solutions for the purpose of streamlining, implementing, and testing sites/software. 
  • Responsible for the updating of configuration management tools, code, and modules for the purpose of streamlining implementation and supportability.
  • The DevOps engineer will be further tasked with the creation of solutions for managing and ingesting large numbers of documents in real time, enabling prompt search and analysis.
  • You will also implement monitoring solutions that identify both system bottlenecks and production issues.
  • You will further identify and implement data storage schemas such as clustering in order to maximize performance.

About you

What does “good” look like in this role? First off – attitude is everything! You may not have all the experience needed for this gig, but the appetite, drive, and ambition to learn must be there. You will be proactive, self-motivated, and able to work comfortably in a constantly evolving and collaborative environment. You are also going to be an excellent communicator. Specifically, you will be able to support the junior DevOps on the team by clearly conveying information and instructions, and encouraging their growth. There’s a lot of responsibility, but you will have the time and support to grow into it.
Technical skills

  • Good in-depth knowledge of Azure PaaS & IaaS deployment concepts
  • Very good experience in PowerShell scripting
  • Good experience in defining deployment design
  • Hands on experience in Medium / Large Azure Deployments
  • Jenkins, azure PowerShell, docker, SQL
  • Knowledge and experience with TFS, Source Control and Release Management,
  • Knowledge and experience with Arm templates and Puppet
  • New Relic is an added advantage
  • Azure certification – AZ 103 AZ 400 would be great – however if you are not certified, Panviva is willing to invest this into you on the job! 

Bonus points

  • Kubernetes & terraform experience
