UI Designer

This is a business that is well known but highly underestimated. A major portion of the population relies on this business, engages with it and uses it. This is a business gearing up for investment in innovation in the world of “digital”, however if you’re on the outside looking in I wouldn’t blame you for questioning what I mean by that statement.
That’s fair enough too, but let’s not judge a book by its cover. If you knew that around 9 million unique visitors use their website each month you would probably fall off your chair (hopefully you haven’t hurt yourself). Now that’s a big number, sure. But what are their goals? Understanding the different customers and users, drive greater engagement, conversation and ultimately resulting in growth.
A critical part of their success is the role of the UI Designer. This is where you come in, but I’m sure you picked up on that. . .
As a UI Designer, you will work with the product team to reimagine the UI’s and interactions for all of their digital property. We’re looking for transformational thinking, and truly bold and imaginative design and UI work. They truly want to outgrow the design patterns they have used before and promise to give you the latitude to stretch your design wings for their well-recognised brand and site.
As part of a highly skilled digital product team, you’ll work alongside UX designers, product managers, developers and business analysts.

The stuff and things you will do:

  • Create and refine the UI’s across the product portfolio
  • Rapid prototyping using low-fidelity methods to arrive at user insights quickly
  • Produce sketches, wireframes, information architecture, and UI guidelines for both web and mobile products
  • Help plan and conduct user requirements gathering and analysis, competitive research, storyboards and scenarios
  • Create high-fidelity design artifacts
  • Work closely with the team to brainstorm product ideas and bring the product direction to life through design
  • Work closely with the engineering team to iterate on product designs and ensure the highest quality finished product

What do I need to be in the mix for this one?

  • If you have been in a forward-thinking UI/UX design role for a couple of years and looking to continue to step up in your career.
  • Online portfolio that demonstrates:
    – Expertise in design for web and mobile
    – A modern style & aesthetic
    – Creative thinking
    – Attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Invision, and other emergent UX/UI tools.
  • The ability to rationalise complex states and workflows.
  • Clearly convey thoughts and ideas; both verbally and written.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction Design, New Media Design, Web Design, HCI, Graphic Design or related degree.
  • Bonus points if… you have experience in Design Thinking and Human Centred Design principles.

What’s in it for me?

  • Working across a well-known brand and completely transforming the design and user experience – tick
  • Working across multiple digital products (not just a website) with a heavy focus on interaction design – tick
  • Having creative flair to unleash your design skills – tick
  • Learn, grow and work with some talented designers and be taken under their wings – tick

I’d love to chat with you to understand what makes you ‘tick’ and talk through what’s important for your next career move. So why don’t you apply and then let’s connect and chat through it all. This one might be the next one for you!
