Who’s are they?
Affix have partnered with Australia’s leading employer superannuation advice specialists who late last year have gone from a locally-grown tech start up and become a part of the global Gallagher group! They’re a FinTech who are doing some pretty innovative and impressive things in their space. It’s not the sexiest industry, but they are super successful and have some exciting plans for later this year!
What do they do?
Their vision is to revolutionise the way we think about our supers. Through their unique offering, they have a powerful platform which allows them to deliver sophisticated analytics that service hundreds of thousands of members with highly personalised reports – they have delivered over 2 million so far! These reports thoroughly understand the current status of an individual’s superannuation account and highlights whether there is an opportunity to improve their position and increase their supers performance whilst helping each individual to form a strong engagement with it.
Yeah sweet, but why should I care?
Yes, the title of the ad is correct….I’m looking for a Senior Java Developer. But moreover, I’m looking for someone who has all of the tools to become a leader in this scaling business. There are currently 11 people in the business, and the dev team is only 2 right now. The exciting part of why you might care however is because this position is likely to grow into much more than software development in the next 12-18 months (think potential CTO)! For now, let’s focus on you stepping into a small business where you will be responsible for building their unique & powerful platform.
What kind of tech will I be using?
You will demonstrate advanced analytical skills; an eye for elegance and craftmanship; a passion for refactoring, unit testing, and delivering secure and robust code.
Your experience will likely include the following:
• 5+ years of commercial Java development
• Java EE, Spring or equivalent
• Web application architecture
• Relational Databases
• Interest in JVM languages (preferably Scala)
• Linux/DevOps experience highly regarded, but not essential
