Network Operations Manager

I am looking for an experienced Operations Network Manager to manage all critical infrastructure networks that support physical operations of this expanding network. 

The role will be responsible for all the operational and project aspects of the network team including design, installation, configuration, maintenance, compliance and ongoing support.  This includes accountability for the critical infrastructure networks that support physical operations, where safety system availability is paramount.

The role encompasses building a highly engaged and driven team through effective staff management, rostering and scheduling of staff work, development of staff through effective planning and training opportunities, and performance management as required. 

Being a critical service delivery role the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the proactive management of all networked nodes in the Operational Networks, including but not limited to firewalls, routers and switches and application delivery appliances. The role also includes vendor management of key network vendors, maintaining PCI compliance for network components, as well as consultation into internal project teams for scoping of work.

In addition, the role will oversee operational guidance, continuous improvement, automation, and technology life-cycle, strategic direction, roadmaps and improvements for all of the operational network service components. 

Essential skills to the role are:

  • Solid experience in an operational network engineering role alongside a minimum 5 years in a team leadership role
  • Industry experience ideally across utilities, mining or transport preferred
  • Proven people management experience and expertise building highly engaged and motivated teams 
  • Track record working in an environment that is both a dynamic and changing organisation
  • Proven ability to identify tasks and activities required to meet requirements, set goals, and develop action plans in line with business priorities
  • Experience working with Networks that support Industrial Control Systems and a strong understanding of SCADA, Modbus, PLC.
  • Good working knowledge of Cisco routers and switches, including Nexus platforms
  • Good working knowledge of Check Point and Palo Alto firewall platforms
  • Good working knowledge of F5 application delivery platforms
  • Demonstrable knowledge of upcoming Network trends such as SDWAN, SDN,Orchestration/Automation
    tooling, IOT, etc
  • Preferred Certifications in Cisco, Check Point, and/or Palo Alto
