I have fast become a huge fan of this business. It’s hard not to. They are a group of genuine and talented people, down to earth with absolutely no egos. But I think the most impressive thing is the passion they all exude for their ambitious and exciting future plans. Spend 5 minutes with them and it’s infectious. I am beyond excited to introduce you to the new Flippa.
If you have heard of Flippa, you would know them as a Melbourne based start-up that built a marketplace to buy and sell digital assets, such as domain names and mobile apps.
What you probably don’t know is that Flippa is the world’s #1 marketplace for buying and selling online businesses with total sales already exceeding USD$200m. The exciting part is they are moving towards being a marketplace that sells business’ in their entirety. With this pivot they are becoming unique in the space by creating a game-changing product selling premium businesses. (Enter greenfields platform build, yes!)
Who’s who in the zoo there?
I’m glad you asked. They have recently appointed some new leaders with some seriously good pedigree behind them that give them a super injection of good humans with massive talent. All whilst being some of the most humble people I have had the pleasure of meeting.
Flippa was founded in 2009 by Mark Harbottle (BRW Entrepreneur of the Year 2012) and Matt Mickiewicz. Mark is also behind successful growth stories in other start-ups 99designs and Sitepoint. Also a key investor in the likes of Assembly payments, Influx, Hired and more.
Now with their new CEO Blake Hutchison and CTO Paul Coia at the helm, they not only have a solid leadership team but also a strong strategic direction which makes Flippa an exciting prospect and these roles in particular very cool.
They’re expanding rapidly to support their even bigger plans for the future, and that means they need more awesome people to join their talented engineering team which is lead by CTO Paul Coia.
We’re looking for experienced Full Stack Software Engineers to join them at their head office in Melbourne. Working in their Product and Engineering teams to design and build applications, infrastructure and tooling you’ll be playing a key role in their rapid expansion.
They pride themselves on their customer focus, their learning mindset, their culture of experimentation and innovation, and their willingness to risk failure to achieve something awesome.
What you will be working on:
What skills you will bring to the role
What’s in it for you
The opportunity to work with a passionate CTO that will help you grow beyond the code. You will get the chance to learn more about the product and the commercial side of the business, which is the beauty of working with a small scale up the business.
You will get your hands on a new platform build whilst having a genuine say towards engineering processes, principles, culture and technical decisions.
Flippa is an awesome place for great software engineers – you’ll be working with talented colleagues, tackling challenging problems, and enjoying a competitive salary and equity package. They have a great flexible working culture, professional development opportunities and some pretty sweet perks to boot!
