Front-End Developer | New Projects | Learn React Native

What’s the business and the team like?
Launching in 2014, this business is still sorted kinda a start-up. A startup in the sense that they run fast and lean, get to make technology choices quickly and use the right tool for the job. But the beauty is, they are a profitable business and already have a huge user base. They are currently at the point of scaling up their platforms and building new stuff. So, the people who come on board get to have a say, contribute to the overall plan and help get them to where they need to be.

They are a purely digital business…. I’m talking a high availability website and mobile app, along with media coverage. Like Data? Good! Cos’ there is lots of it. Think live streaming, real-time data feeds etc etc All of the data!

You will join a scrum team, with all the goodness that comes with it. Working with the likes of designers, product peeps and other engineers. At the head of it all is a great Tech Lead, who is humble, passionate and just an all-round good human.

Tell me about the role – The What
As the FE Dev, you’re coming on to develop and engage the broadest possible audience through the compelling presentation of products by setting technical and aesthetic direction for the front-end interfaces of web and mobile applications through exploring and delivering the best possible customer experience for users.
You will participate in the entire development cycle (analysis, spec, design, code, pilot, launch and support). At the crux of it all, you will collaborate with the development team to plan, prototype and build appropriate solutions to turn concept design and user interface mockups and comps into functional web/mobile applications.

Need some bullet points in here to give you more of the what?

  • Lead and direct other front-end developers throughout the technology stack.
  • Ensure all front-end technology solutions are properly architected and specified
  • Define and disseminate front-end technology best practices
  • Abstract layouts, design patterns (MVC / MVVM), and UI components while building out the interface to a product or application own web standards, accessibility, and usability standards

What projects are in the pipeline? – The Why
The FE of their website right now is built in Angular, but with these pretty awesome projects upcoming this will change.

  • They are building a new mobile app in React Native – want to lean?
  • Re-platforming of their website (Sitecore) and introducing React on the FE – yup, you will lead this

The right person for this? – The Who
You’ll obviously need the technical chops for this one, but I won’t patronise you with dot points of HTML5, CSS etc. As long as you’re a gun with ES6, whatever FE framework is cool too (React would be favourable) and you’ve smashed some seriously good projects before – you got this!

  • They hire based on attitude first. So if you’re curious, driven and have your own minimum engineering standards, we’ll all probably get on well.
  • They really like autonomous and self-starting engineers. You’ll be expected to rock up to your stakeholders without asking for permission, plan your own week, ask difficult questions and generally get sh*t done!
  • If you’ve worked in SCRUM squads before – well that’d be snazzy
  • Someone who is an eager beaver to learn. Example? Want to get your hands on mobile development? Awesome cos you can learn React Native here.

We’re really nice, we actually know what we’re doing and we care about helping you create your future. So, if any of this so much as piques a little bit of your interest – get in touch for a chat! If this doesn’t fit you, that’s cool too, happy to chat and see what we can help YOU with.
