A pretty broad job title that can mean a lot of things, or not much. So, let me try and tell you what this Comms gig is all about, shall I?
You’ll be doing all of the things, in what I would say is a lean, start-up culture, but one with a rich history of success and being good at what they do. A customer experience driven business, with a well-known brand in what they do. But, there is a lot more to do.
You’ll need to work with the Head of Marketing on what the Communications strategy is. Although very successful, the brand is a little fragmented. You’ll own agency relationships, being the custodian of branding and messaging. Who are we? How do we position ourselves?
You’ll need to be comfortable working not only across mediums such as PR, press, but also getting heavily involved above the line and digital channels. Content will be key to this gig too.
Think big, think differently and be able to execute and work with/manage stakeholders to support in delivery as well. Know the audience, the channel required with a mix of being creative and commercial – understanding your role in supporting business objectives.
Who are you?
You’ve done this role a while. You’re ok with change and feel comfortable in trying things, testing stuff and being ok with failure. You’re also ok with uncertainty and “rolling with it” but being able to plan and get it done. Someone that’s able to come up with ideas and express it. Being passionate about what you do and working in a collaborative team, with a lot of freedom to think for yourself and get on with it.
