Communications Advisor


At affix, we love partnering with great people to help them build their teams (we really do) and recently, we had the pleasure of meeting a couple of wonderful humans who come from an organisation that is the peak body for the local government in sunny Queensland. These guys are solving some cool problems, they have a great little Marketing and Comms team and they need a new family member that’s going to continue to produce some engaging, gorgeous content for local councils and their communities!   

This client needs a NEW Communications Advisor. They need someone who’s an organised, proactive, process-driven and passionate juggler. So, we’re on the lookout for someone who communicates in a way that people REALLY listen, with well-developed skills in being able to connect and grow a network. This snew team member needs to be right across ‘the socials’ and can use the latest and greatest tools and platforms to communicate with a wide audience #likeaboss.

We’re visualizing our perfect person for this role to have anywhere around five years’ experience working in the communications, marketing, PR, digital or creative industries, who can produce beautiful copy, can pay close attention to the finer details, and has a bit of experience in reporting on web analytics and metrics. You’ll have polished skills across all online and digital communication, with a  particular focus on social media channels. We see you being the kind of person who not only communicates with gorgeous copy, but the way you go about communicating to the team and the greater organisation is done with confidence and finesse – because that’s just the kind of person you are.

For all of the dot-point lovers out there – here’s what you’ll be getting up to:

  • Connecting, growing and elevating an engaged network media and communication professionals across Queensland local government;
  • Driving a series of events and engagements across this network, all whilst maintaining an active Facebook Group – using the latest digital tools and platforms to engage with them;
  • Creating clever, well thought out content which can be shared across this network, as well as providing direct communication support and guidance to Queensland’s 77 local councils;
  • You’ll be acting as an internal communications advisor within the organisation, so you’ll be consulting on best practice communication across a range of areas, including local government policy, flagship events and the marketing of products, services and tools to a membership base;
  • Delivering communication plans and outcomes in an agile workplace environment, all whilst working closely with the digital team in the production of engaging written and multimedia content pieces.

My client will be thrilled if you have:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience working in the communications, marketing, PR, digital or creative industries;
  • Demonstrated proficiency across digital and online communications that include “ALL THE” social media channels;
  • The ability to be able to report on web analytics, communication targets, and metrics;
  • Refined copywriting and editing skills;
  • Previously worked in fast-moving creative environment and it’d be an added bonus if you’ve got some knowledge around the Queensland political environment; And
  • You’ll kick some big goals if you’ve got some graphic design and video editing skills.
